We are proud to offer personalized cosmetic dentistry services in our Newton, MA office! Our team understands that patients want healthy smiles that also reflect their personalities. Problems like discoloration, cracks, chips, gum recession, and misalignment prevent many people from confidently showing off their smiles. At Soft Touch Dentistry, we develop treatment around each individual to correct the cosmetic imperfections that keep them from feeling their best. Here, we use the latest materials and technologies such as tooth-colored fillings, cosmetic bonding, teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, and Invisalign to meet our patients’ needs.
Your smile speaks volumes about you. Research indicates that we perceive a person’s character and personality through their smile, and that we do this in less than a minute. A radiant, straight smile looks healthy. It looks youthful and energetic, happy to be here. White, straight teeth make a person not only look younger but friendlier. Employers have described people with nice smiles as “motivated.” Dating sites have reported that clients find a person with a nice smile “kissable.” From our perspective, we see what cosmetic dentistry does for our patients’ confidence and sense of self, and it brings smiles to our faces. Invisalign has become one of the leading teeth-straightening treatments of our time. Patients of our Newton, MA office can explore the many benefits of Invisalign by consulting with a friendly, experienced dentist. This aligner system has been designed for comfort, convenience, and efficiency. It is appropriate for a wide variety of misalignment issues, including cross-bite, overbite, and underbite. Invisalign can correct turning, overlapping, and gaps between teeth in a similar timeframe to conventional orthodontia but without the food restrictions and hazards like metal brackets poking the cheeks and lips.
While convenient and completely without food restrictions, other than not eating with aligners inserted, Invisalign is a sophisticated teeth-straightening system that can achieve beautiful results. Each treatment program is developed using state-of-the-art digital technology that eliminates the need for messy impressions and multiple visits. Aligners are customized to each patient using animated 3D imaging, and are fabricated from virtually invisible, durable, BPA-free plastic.
Botox Cosmetic is one of the most well-known and popular FDA-approved injectables. This drug has been used for decades. First as a therapy for neuromuscular disorders such as blepharospasm, and now for common cosmetic concerns such as frown lines and crow’s feet. We are pleased to offer convenient, efficient Botox injections to our patients for both cosmetic and medical purposes. Seeing that purified botulinum toxin was initially used as a therapeutic modality for muscular conditions, it is only logical to turn to Botox for conditions such as headaches and TMJ.
TMJ, Temporomandibular Joint Disorder, is an orofacial condition in which the joints of the jaw do not function properly. The stress and tension on the jaw and surrounding muscles and tendons, often associated with bruxism, can result in localized pain as well as chronic headaches. For the past several years, dentists have relied on Botox to help ease patients’ tension and discomfort. Botox injections have even been used to treat the most severe symptoms of bruxism and TMJ, including lockjaw. Injections are administered into the muscles that engage the lower jaw. Treatment is virtually painless because the muscles are located superficially. As the Clostridium botulinum is absorbed into the muscle, the neurotransmitter acetylcholine is blocked. This is the neurotransmitter that commands muscle contraction. When blocked, the muscle relaxes and, thus, the symptoms of TMJ may decrease for up to 6 months.
Botox, used for wrinkle reduction or TMJ treatment, is a safe and convenient treatment that has a strong history of success. Treatment takes thirty minutes or less and there is no downtime other than avoiding strenuous exercise and excessive heat for approximately 24 hours.
