Treating children to brush and floss can be tricky sometimes. The most important tool for success if for children to see their parents care for their own teeth at home. Children are definitely capable of understanding the importance of good dental practices. These habits are more likely to stick with them when learned at a young age.
Baby teeth are at risk for decay as soon as they first appear, even though they will eventually fall out. Decay is most common in the upper front teeth due to bottle-feeding. It is important to clean your infant’s teeth every day, as soon as they appear. Your child should also visit the dentist as soon as their teeth begin to appear.
Begin cleaning your baby’s gums by wiping them with a clean, moist washcloth. As soon as teeth appear, decay can occur so begin light brushing of baby teeth as soon as they appear. As soon as your child has two teeth that touch, you should begin flossing their teeth daily.
