Why Preventative Dentistry Is So Valuable

You know the value of having good friends, investing in yourself, and so much more. But one thing that you may not know the value of is preventative dental care. Preventative dental care involves coming into our Soft Touch Dentistry office and scheduling a dental exam with Dr. Nazila Bidabadi. During your examination, Dr. Bidabadi will clean your teeth or calculus and build up, polish them, perform dental x-rays to look for decay and other issues, and will see if you have any cavities.

Cavity Checks

Just like with any health issue, the sooner we catch an issue, the easier it is to treat. One of the main reasons why we recommend getting a preventative dental check done every six months is so that we can catch things like cavities before they get worse.

Gum Issues

During your preventative dental check, we will also examine your gums. For some patients, they will require the gum line cleaning (prophylaxis) more than twice a year. For others who need the gum line cleaning, they may need to have it done as often as every three months.

Dental Sealants

If you have kids, then preventative dentistry like dental sealants may as well be your best friend. Dental sealants are a thin coating that is placed on the teeth to shield them against dental decay. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has claimed that school-aged kids without dental sealants are three times more likely to get a cavity than those with them.

The American Dental Association recommends that all patients get a dental exam done every six weeks and then get any follow-up appointments done as needed.
